A New Series: Rediscovering Black-and-White
When I began developing my own negatives circa 1970, I was limited to black-and-white photographs by necessity. I had neither the money nor the skill to work in color. But then I came to recognize the beauty and aesthetic value of monochromatic images—especially as I was exposed to cinema genres like film noir and the work of black-and-white cinematographers in the 1920s to 1950s.
However, in the digital era, I have gotten away from black and white. I might occasionally convert a color image to a monochromatic one in post-production—like whenever clouds are involved (see here and here). But, I dunno, somehow that felt like cheating. And so I started investigating monochrome-only digital cameras.
And I bought a (used) Leica Q3 Monochrom. All black-and-white, all the time, my friend!
It’s still early days for this camera and me, but I feel myself falling in love with black-and-white all over again. The ability to compose an image while looking at a monochrome viewfinder or LCD screen is a treat. And the images this camera creates…? <chef’s kiss>
Thus, to encourage my black-and-white shooting practice, I am beginning a new, irregular, maybe short-lived series: “Rediscovering Black-and-White.”

I've no personal experience of the Monochroms (or any other Leica for that matter), but the images I've seen from them are gorgeous. I remember seeing Dpreview's review of the M10 or M11 Monochrom (can't remember which) a few years ago and the sample images were exquisite.
